Women are the torchbearers who uplift the family and are the guiding stars of society in the world. The path that these women traverse is rough, because the distinction between male and female, which does not exist in any other species, has grown abundantly in the human race. In today's society, it is considered progressive thinking to eliminate the gender differences that have been created in the present, remove the restrictions implemented on women who have been enslaved for a long time, give them priority, and give them a voice for themselves. This idea is deeply rooted today, widely spoken, and gaining significant importance. It is no overstatement to say that this thought arose out of the need of the hour. Novelists, no matter how famous and highly educated they may be, tend to write in accumulation without clear thinking or proper interpretation only when writing about the status of women. The superiority or inferiority of women is a finite concept, and women are advancing in many fields today. But at the same time, it is a fact that in many families, women are subjected to various forms of harassment and continue to face many incidents of harassment as women are not educated in society. As such, the purpose of this article is to find out how the women found in Poomani's novels in spite of their travel in many dimensions, the background of their life style is depressing, as they face many tragedies on a daily basis in order to set up their lives properly

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Uncontrolled postoperative pain may produce a range of detrimental acute and chronic effects. Spinal anaesthesia provided by bupivacaine may be too short for providing postoperative analgesia. This study is conducted to evaluate the efficacy of intrathecal dexmedetomidine and intrathecal clonidine as an adjuvant to hyperbaric bupivacaine with regards to the onset and duration of sensory and motor blockade, as well as postoperative analgesia and adverse effects. METHODOLOGY: Ninety patients aged 20-60 years were randomly divided into three groups each group consisting of 30 patients of either sex belonging to ASA class I and II posted for elective lower limb surgeries were given spinal anaesthesia using bupivacaine 0.5%, hyperbaric15mg with either normal saline 0.5 ml (group B) or 50 μg of preservative free clonidine (group C) or 5μg of preservative free dexmedetomidine (group D).Total volume of the injected solution was 3.5ml in all three groups. Assessment of the sensory and motor blockade were done at the end of each minute till the maximum level achieved. Measurement of blood pressure, pulse rate, respiratory rate and arterial oxygen saturation were obtained. Postoperatively the patients were observed for the duration of analgesia, time taken for complete regression of sensory blockade to S1 and time taken for complete recovery of motor power. RESULTS: Our results showed a statistically highly significant prolongation of sensory and motor blockade, time taken for sensory regression by two segments and postoperative analgesia in the dexmedetomidine and clonidine group compared to the control group. In dexmedetomidine group seven out of thirty patients, in clonidine group seven out of thirty patients and in control group two out of thirty patients developed hypotension. In dexmedetomidine group five out of thirty patients, in clonidine group four out of thirty patients and in control group one out of thirty patients developed bradycardia. INTERPRETATION AND CONCLUSION: Hence, it is concluded from our study that dexmedetomidine in the dose of 5 μg or clonidine in the dose of 50 μg when added to the bupivacaine 0.5% hyperbaric prolongs the duration of sensory and motor blockade, time taken for sensory regression by two segments and duration of post-operative analgesia

Behaviour varies from human to human. A man or any other living being are judged based on behaviour. In that sense, literature is an explanation of human behaviour and their character. Literary works psychologically teaches us about how to make good friendship and whom to reject and accept. This article explores the psychological aspects in the chapter Friendship of Naaladiyar’s poem

A decentralized paradigm for resource-aware computing in wireless Ad hoc networks

    Get PDF
A key factor limiting the democratisation of networked systems is the lack of trust, particularly in the wake of data-intensive applications that work on sensitive and private data, which requires providing strong network security guarantees via encryption and authentication algorithms, as well as rethinking algorithms to compute on the network peripheries without moving data. In many security and privacy-critical domains such as Home Automation IoT networks, AUV networks etc., the existence of a centralized privileged node leads to a vulnerability for leakage of sensitive information. In this paper, we have proposed a decentralized networking architecture that adopts collaborative processing techniques and operates within the tradeoff between network security and performance. We have investigated the design and sustainability of autonomous decentralized systems and evaluated the efficiency of the proposed scheme with the help of extensive simulation tools

Introduction The success of a minor oral procedure relies on the efficiency of the local anaesthetic and the dexterity of the operator. Local anaesthetic with an extended duration of action, good analgesia, and negligible toxicity is an optimal choice. A common standard option is 2% lignocaine hydrochloride with adrenaline (1:80,000). However, lignocaine is not recommended for long procedures or in patients with cardiovascular compromise.Various clinical trials have suggested other options, one of which is ropivacaine. The aim of the survey was to assess the knowledge, attitude and practice of ropivacaine in prosthodontics. Materials and methods An online questionnaire based cross-sectional study was conducted during 1st July to 12th July 2021, among undergraduate and postgraduate dental students of Saveetha Dental College. An online questionnaire survey which consisted of 17 questions, was circulated among the dental practitioners (n=100) within the city based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria of the study and the response was subjected to analysis. Results According to the survey 88.89% of the participants are aware that Ropivacaine falls under long acting amide link. According to the survey 55% of the participants think lidocaine is the most commonly used Local anaesthesia followed by ropivacaine 35%. About 92 % of the participants think Ropivacaine is better than bupivacaine due to its less lipophilic and have a significantly higher threshold CNS toxicity. According to the survey 85% of the participants think 14 minutes is the half life of ropivacaine followed by 2mins, 10mins, 4mins. Ropivacaine can be used in long prosthodontics procedures like FPD. According to the survey 58% know the commercial name of ropivacaine whereas 31% don’t know the commercial name. Conclusion: Within the limitations of the study, the participants are aware of ropivacaine.Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, Saveetha Dental College and Hospitals, Saveetha Universit

Introduction: General anesthesia is a state of medically induced coma or unconsciousness. General anaesthetics are drugs that render a patient unresponsive and unconscious, so that the patient is unaware of surgery and does not move or feel pain while it's being carried out. The anaesthetic agent is administered through an intravenous line or the anaesthetic agent may be inhaled through a breathing mask or tube. Inhalation anesthetics are also known to be found in two forms, gaseous anesthetics and the volatile anaesthetics. The volatile anesthetics are liquids at room temperature and need vapourizers to make it suitable for the inhalation purposes. Aim:The present study aimed to assess the knowledge and awareness on inhalation anaesthesia among dental students. Materials and Methods: The present study is an online based survey conducted among the dental students. The participants were from 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th years of BDS. Questionnaires were prepared and distributed among dental students through an online link from the survey planet. Results and Discussion: About 62% of the students were well aware of inhalation general anaesthesia. 55% of the students were aware of nitrous oxide as inhalation general anesthetics. From the results of the survey it is clear that most of the dental students were well aware of inhalation general anaesthesia and also had proper knowledge about its complications

Interaction of amino acids with glycyl-glycine transport in the mammalian intestine

In order to investigate a possible interaction between free amino acids and dipeptides during their mucosal uptake in man and monkey, perfusion studies in vivo and uptake studiesin vitro using labelled and non-labelled dipeptides and amino acids have been carried out. In contrast to the observations of other workers, inhibition of glycyl-glycine uptake was observed with free leucine and methioninc but not with glycine, proline, hydroxyproline or alanine. Leucine and methionine caused inhibition of cytosol glycyl-glycine hydrolase activity, while glycine had no effect. The dipeptide uptake and dipeptide hydrolysis by cytosol enzyme was competitively inhibited by leucine. Although brush border glycyl-glycine hydrolase was also inhibited by leucine, the inhibition was noncompetitive. These data indicate that a few free amino acids can interact with dipeptides during uptake. This interaction might occur either at the transport step or at the stage of intracellular dipeptide hydrolysis

The Siddha system of medicine is a traditional Indian system which evolved with the development of mankind and is more of an evolution rather than invention. Siddha system describes the health of an individual as an ideal perfect state of the physical, physiological, social, and spiritual components of a human being. Diabetes is a chronic disorder linked with the metabolism of carbohydrate, protein and fat due to absolute or relative deficiency of insulin secretion with or without varying degree of insulin resistance. There is sufficient number of drugs in different systems of medicine for the management of diabetes but the incidence of type-II diabetes is too high. In Siddha system many more traditional formulations are available. Most of these medicines are clinically used by Siddha physicians but have not been evaluated scientifically. Naaval kottai Mathira is a anti-diabetic Siddha herbal formulation which is prepared from the seeds of Syzygium cumini and leaves of Aristolochia bracteolata and it has been used for the management of Diabetes mellitus (Madhumegam). The aim of the present study is to evaluate the cytotoxicity and glucose uptake activity of herbal preparation NKM using L-6 cell lines. The results showed that the test drug did not confer any cytotoxicity and the drug NKM showed better glucose uptake potential. The result of glucose uptake percentage for standard drug Rosiglitazone is 113.26±7.72 and 32.67±4.25 for Naaval Kottai Mathirai. The findings of this investigation concluded that the study drug NKM has anti-diabetic activity in glucose uptake assay
